We demonstrated the evolution of the midinfrared (MIR) higher-order soliton fission in a tapered tellurite microstructured optical fiber (TMOF). The pump wavelength was ∼1800 nm, which originated from an optical parametric oscillator (OPO). From ∼30 to 80mW, an obvious redshift of the first fundamental soliton was observed. From ∼80 to 120mW, two fundamental solitons were obtained by the fission of higher-order solitons. The redshift of the first fundamental soliton almost stopped because most of the increased average pump power went to the second fundamental soliton. From ∼120 to 180 mW, the first fundamental soliton resumed its obvious redshift, and a third fundamental soliton was obtained at ∼180mW. With the average pump power increasing to ∼220mW, five fundamental solitons were observed.
