Restoration of lattice defects in graphene oxide

研究概要

Synthesis of graphene by the reduction of graphene oxide (GO) is one of the most extensively studied topic. This is because through this method graphene can be produced in bulk quantities with controllable properties that can be assigned to a vast range of applications. However, to obtain graphene similar to pristine graphene from GO is the most challenging task due to the lattice defects present in GO. Thermal annealing of GO in the presence of a carbon source have proved to be a best strategy to repair lattice defects. Nanoscale imaging of the distribution of lattice defects and restored areas in GO and RGO flakes would give better details on the restoration process.
