研究概要

Graphene, a two-dimensional monolayer of carbon materials in an sp2 hexagonal bonding configuration, has come to the forefront in the field of materials science and nanotechnology since early 2000s in view of its outstanding electrical and thermal properties with excellent mechanical strength. These superior properties lead to a significant impact and could possibly replace other materials in existing applications. The market of graphene application is driven by progress in the production, specifically in large-scale fabrication with high quality. To date, numerous approach are reported and the most common methods are micromechanical exfoliation, chemical vapour deposition (CVD), oxidative-exfoliation methods, and chemical reduction of exfoliated graphite. The main purpose of this project is to produce graphene oxide via various synthesis approaches. Followed by characterization of their crystal structures using transmission electron microscopy (TEM), Raman spectroscopy, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), atomic force microscope (AFM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), etc. Finally, the relationship between crystal structure and property will be discussed.
