研究概要

In this research, we perform the calibration and registration of visible and thermal cameras for effective sensor fusion. The calibration is performed using a heated checkerboard pattern. While the registration is performed using three different approaches. In the first approach using the camera calibration information control points are generated from the checkerboard patterns and are used to register the images. In the second approach, we perform the registration using trajectory points generated by an external illuminated object. In the final approach, we propose to register the cameras using face tracking, without the aid of any external object. The trajectory and control points, observed in both the cameras, are matched and used to register the cameras using the particle swarm optimization algorithm. We demonstrate the advantages of the thermal and visible camera sensor fusion within a pedestrian detection algorithm.
